Using the Password Generator

Bitium’s Password Generator lets users and admins create extremely strong, randomized passwords for any app account.

As a user, there are three ways to create a random password of up to 100 characters.

From the Dashboard

  1. From your dashboard, click the “Password Generator” option in the left-hand menu.

    If you do not see a left-hand menu on your dashboard, your org admin may have disabled this feature. To use the Password Generator, use the Plugin Method described below.

  2. A randomly-generated password will appear. You can either copy this password to your clipboard or generate a new password.

From an App’s Settings

  1. From your dashboard, click the down arrow of an app to access the app’s Settings menu.

  2. Click “Settings.”

  3. In the “Password” field, click “Generate.”

  4. You can either click “Show” to see the password” or “Copy” to copy the password into the underlying app prior to saving it in Bitium.

From the Browser Extension

  1. Click the “b” in your browser toolbar to open the Bitium plugin.

  2. Click “Password Generator.”

  3. You can either “Copy to Clipboard” to copy the new password into the underlying app or “Generate Another” to create a new password.

In the App Assignment Flow

As an admin, you can create a randomly generated password in the app provisioning flow, when you “create a new account” within Bitium. The new password can be copied and used in the underlying app. The new password can then be added to the account in Bitium.

  1. Click “Manage [Org]”

  2. Select “Manage Apps.”

  3. For a specific app, click “Assign” to assign a user to the app.

  4. Select a user.

  5. Click “Change” to change the user’s ability to set the password (you will be setting the password).

  6. Click “Create New Account.”

  7. Use the new randomly-generated password to copy and paste into the underlying app.

In the User Assignment Flow

  1. Click “Manage [Org]”

  2. Select “Manage Users.”

  3. For a specific user, click “Assign” to assign an app to the user.

  4. Select an app.

  5. Click “Change” to change the user’s ability to set the password (you will be setting the password).

  6. Click “Create New Account.”

Now that you’re familiar with the Password Generator, check your app password scores and use the generator to ramp up their password strength. We recommend starting with the apps you use the most, or ones that contain sensitive corporate or personal information.
