Configuring SAML for Small Improvements


Bitium: All account levels; must be an Admin to set up

Small Improvements: Paid Account; must be an Admin to set up

Prior to enabling SAML in Small Improvements, you will need to email them and request a subdomain be added to your account.

In Bitium:

  1. Go to “Manage Apps.”

  2. Select “Small Improvements” from the list of installed apps.

  3. Click the “Single Sign-On” tab.

  4. Click the dropdown menu and select “SAML authentication.”

  5. Copy the Entity ID, Login URL, and X.509 Certificate from Bitium.

  6. Enter your Small Improvements subdomain in the Subdomain field.

  7. Save in Bitium.

In Small Improvements:

  1. Navigate to “Administration” and then click “SAML SSO.”

  2. Check the box Enable SAML for SSO in Small Improvements.

  3. Paste the Entity ID copied in Step 5 into the Application Issuer URL field in Small Improvements.

  4. Paste the Login URL copied in Step 5 into the HTTP Endpoint field in Small Improvements.

  5. Paste the X.509 Certificate copied in Step 5 into the X.509 Certificate field in Small Improvements.

    Note: For testing purposes, we recommend you enable ‘Enable access via login/password too’ by clicking the box.

  6. Save in Small Improvements.

Congratulations, you’ve enabled SAML for Small Improvements!


SP Initiated Login:

  1. Assign yourself or an appropriate user to the Small Improvements app in Bitium.
  2. In a fresh window or browser not logged into Small Improvements or Bitium, navigate to https://{yourSubdomain}
  3. Click the Log in via SAML Button.
  4. You should be redirected to a Bitium login page. Sign into this.
  5. After signing in, you should be authenticated into your Small Improvements organization.

IDP Initiated Login:

  1. Log out of Small Improvements.
  2. From the Bitium Dashboard, click on the Small Improvements app.
  3. You should be authenticated into the app.

Note: JIT provisioning is not supported for Small Improvements at this time. Users must have an account inside Small Improvements before authenticating into the app via SAML.
