Configuring SAML for Adaptive Insights

Bitium: All account levels; must be an admin to set up

Adaptive Insights: Must be an admin to set up

In Bitium:

  1. Go to “Manage Apps.”

  2. Select “Tableau” from the list of installed apps.

  3. Select the “Single Sign-On” tab.

  4. From the dropdown, select “SAML Authentication.”

  5. Download the X.509 Certificate from Bitium.

Leave your Bitium window open and continue in a new tab.

In Adaptive Insights:

  1. Log into your Adaptive Insights. Navigate to the admin section. In the Admin section, click on Manage SAML SSO Settings, under Users and Roles.

  2. In the Identity provider name field in Adaptive Insights, type bitium.com.

  3. Copy the Entity ID from Bitium. Paste it into the Identity provider Entity ID in Adaptive Insights.

  4. Copy the Login URL from Bitium. Paste it into the Identity provider SSO URL field in Adaptive Insights.

  5. For the Identity provider certificate in Adaptive Insights, click Choose File. Upload the X.509 Certificate fromBitium.

  6. Set the SAML user id radio button in Adaptive Insights equal to User’s Adaptive Insights user name.

  7. Set the SAML user id location radio button in Adaptive Insights equal to User id in Attribute. For the SAML attribute field, type in emailAddress.

  8. Set Enable SAML to Allow only SAML SSO or Allow SAML SSO and direct Adaptive Insights login. We recommend testing with the second, and then changing fully over when you’ve tested your connection.

  9. Copy the Adaptive Insights SSO URL from Adaptive Insights. Paste it into the ACS URL field in Bitium.

  10. Click Save in Adaptive Insights.

  11. In Bitium, go back to the Single Sign-On tab for Adaptive Insights and click the “Save Changes” button.

SAML Enabled will be illuminated in green once completed.

Adaptive Insights does not support JIT provisioning. In order for a user to authenticate with SAML, the user must exist in Adaptive Insights with a name and email, and have a role assigned to them.

In Bitium, the value set for the user’s login must match the email address associated with their Adaptive Insights account.
